Beyond boilerplate.

We see our job as twofold:

1) Don’t just go through the motions of Q&A, but dig deeply, draw on clinical expertise and well-honed intuition, and engage in meaningful dialogue to uncover every client’s truly unique story.

2) Make these experiences jump off the page, so anyone reading cannot help but grasp the client’s humanity.

Every report we submit reflects this promise of deep understanding and written excellence.

Our constituents who have so much on the line deserve nothing less.

No to interrogation.

Yes to helping clients to heal.

For many clients, the evaluation will be the first and possibly ever exposure to any therapeutic setting they have ever had. It may be the only time they have ever told their full story to anyone. We take that responsibility very seriously.

As such, we don’t “analyze” a petitioner, as though a specimen under the microscope.

Rather, we engage clients in a mutually respectful relationship, one in which we both might learn from each other. And we integrate “best practice” therapeutic interventions directly into the evaluation process itself to make the most of the opportunity.

We strive to normalize client’s experiences, lend hope, model the potential of positive therapeutic experience, psycho-educate on whatever a client might be undergoing, provide concrete suggestions related to relief and safety, engage in brief therapeutic interventions to increase resilience and broaden perspective, impart basic coping techniques, and assist with resourcing for ongoing therapy or other relevant social service needs.

And listen to what a client may have to teach us.

We are realistic about what we can and can’t accomplish in a single evaluative setting, but we know therapeutic experiences can and do take place, and we seek to maximize their frequency and potency!

Humanity First.

We pride ourselves on demonstrating the highest standards of:

Cultural sensitivity.

We are trained social workers and psychological professionals, with extensive experience providing trauma-based services to diverse populations. Our team is comprised of a diverse cross-section of ethnicities, racial heritages, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic backgrounds, ages, and language fluencies that strives to match the constituencies we serve.

Experience.

We are licensed mental health professionals, and our leadership team has been providing mental health evaluations related to immigration since 2012. All our staff are trained and experienced in rendering trauma-based assessments and interventions. We understand the process and strive for the highest levels of professionalism.

Skill.

Carrying out a successful psychological evaluation is as much art as science. A skilled evaluator learns to listen for what’s not being said, as much as what is, to pick up on subtle body language or shifts in tone or demeanor, which may hint at crucial avenues to more fully explore. Our job is not just rattling off “Q&A”, but uncovering each client’s unique story in a holistic manner.

Commitment.

We take pride in every evaluation we perform. Our job is not complete until we have identified and articulated every pattern that might tie together a client’s past, present, and future in a coherent, compelling narrative of functioning, resilience, and risk. We are restless seekers of understanding.

Adaptability.

We make ourselves available morning through evening, as well as on weekends, whenever the clients we serve may be available. We offer all services remotely. We invite the challenge of unique or unconventional cases that stretch us to think as clinicians on our feet. We embrace the collaborative nature of our work.

Responsiveness.

We respond to inquiries quickly, turn around written reports in a timely manner, and return revisions as needed without delay. We understand the pressures attorneys and clients are under to maintain crucial timelines, and strive to seamlessly contribute to streamlined workflows.
